JANET WATSON
Janet is a print-maker and photographer born in London but at home by the sea. She has lived in East Anglia for many years, where the coast, wildlife and coastal activities have been the focus of many of her prints and photographs.
Janet became fascinated by bookbinding while she studied as a mature student for first a Degree and then a Masters, in Fine Art, at Norwich School of Art and Design (now NUCA).
She loves the wildlife that lives in, or visits, a large (and largely untamed!) garden near to the sea and close to where she is lucky to have a studio. The studio houses a large Albion Platen Press and a Star Wheel Cylinder Press, both made in the 1850’s.
Janet’s work is mainly hand-bound sketch/notebooks covered with calico on which she prints various lino cuts; many include local scenes of Suffolk. The books are covered front and back with the images. She has recently added some new illustrations to her books; for instance, an image inspired by a visit to the Local Suffolk Punch Trust.
All Janet’s books are bound with 140gsm white cartridge paper that will take watercolour and pen. They contain 62 double sided pages.
Janet also takes commissions.
