Originally from the Kent coast, Annie gained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury. In the early 2000’s, she relocated to Cambridgeshire, where Annie trained as an Art and Design Teacher at Secondary level.
After teaching for a few years, she decided it was time to turn her passion for art into a career as an artist, whilst continuing to teach others through workshops.
Annie discovered Needle Felting when researching a therapeutic activity to teach at one of her art workshops for Cambridge Women’s Aid.
With Annie’s painting background, she was curious as to whether wool could be used to paint with. She was astounded by the beautiful results of her experiments, and as she perfected her wool blending technique, Annie’s pieces began to look like paintings.
With increasing requests to buy the samples she had made to take to her workshops Annie started "Annie Brown Needle Felting”.
