RONAN AND HONOR KAVANAGH (Avalon Jewellery)
Every piece of Avalon Jewellery is handcrafted and refined by Honor and Ronan Kavanagh.
Ronan specialising in precious metals and gemstones and Honor in lampworked glass: the two complimenting each other.
Ronan attended Medway College of Art, being naturally creative and Honor then joined him later. She began with fused glass some years ago, then moved on to lampworked glass making and particularly enjoys the trickiness of this medium and the glorious colours that can be produced.
Having recently moved to Suffolk, they gain the inspiration for their designs from their walks along the Suffolk Coastline.
Nature Plays a big part in their jewellery making: Ronan’s ‘Bee Cuff’ with its anticlastic sterling silver base , with gilded bees , sitting on a strip of honeycomb and Honor’s ‘ Isle of Avalon glass bead pendant’ reflecting a seashore landscape.
Ronan and Honor both enjoy the intricacies of mastering the materials they have chosen. “There is something so good about having an idea and then being able to bring it to life”.
Their Avalon Jewellery is certainly beautiful, made to last a lifetime and to make everyone who wears it feel special. A very precious gift.
