Dee has been painting for over thirty years and is now based in Ludham, Norfolk, which is on the Norfolk Broads. Dee’s work ranges from paintings in acrylic, pastel and mixed media to collages in acrylic.
Most of her work in acrylic includes applied texture from dried grasses and plant material to texture paste and sand, as well as beach finds.
She sometimes ventures into printmaking including collagraph and mono-printing. Recently Dee has been using her own mono-prints which she cuts and manipulates to make colourful semi abstract collages.
Dee is inspired by the Norfolk and Suffolk countryside, with rambles along the rivers and coast providing endless subject matter. Her paintings are almost always very colourful, which is often exaggerated or invented, and she does not aim to achieve a photographic representation but rather an impression of the subject. If she manages to achieve a certain ambiguity then this is when she is satisfied and stops adding (or taking away).
